In 1957 the International Rescue Committee initiated the establishment of an expert commission, which was led by businessman Harold L. Zellerbach. The commission drew up several reports on the European situation in the following years. The report below was written in January 1959 and discusses the situation of Hungarian refugees from 1956 at great length.
